Zest and Dandiya 2017




The annual cultural extravaganza of "ZEST and DANDIYA 2017" was held on 14th October 2017 at Siri Fort Auditorium. The programme was given an auspicious aura with the lighting of the lamp and Ganesh Vandana followed by the events- Ad-Mad Show, JAM, solo and group instrumental competition, RJ hunt,Solo Singing, Duet Singing, Solo Instrumental, Folk Dance,Solo Dance, Duet Dance, Group Dance, Theme play and Fashion show. The participants enthralled the audience with their performances. The winners were given prizes by the Chief Guest, Dr. Amit Gupta, Chairman JIMS, and the Directors of all the Campuses of JIMS . The 'Garba Dance' at the end provided a fitting finale to the celebrations.



InterCampus Presentation Competition 2017


JIMS, Lajpat Nagar hosted the Inter Campus Presentation Competition on the 9th of October’2017. The topics for the competition were –a.) Waste management-need of the hour b.) User friendly apps changing the way we live. The six participating teams were asked to choose one from the two shortlisted topics. One could witness the high conviction levels of the participants in the passion with which they presented their views on their respective topics. The aptness of expression was complemented by skillful preparation of the slides. Graphical representation of facts and figures; relevant videos further added to the effectiveness of the speech. The competition was held on two levels: UG and PG.The first prize in the UG category went to Aayush Yadav and Viraz of Lajpat Nagar Campus and the second to Simran and Syed Mohd of Greater Noida. In the PG category the first prize winners were Lakshay Sethi and Shubji Jain. The event concluded with Prof (Maj.Gen.) M.P. Singh giving away the prizes to the winners.



Convocation Ceremony 2017


Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences celebrated its Annual Convocation Ceremony on October 7,2017 at JIMS, Kalkaji, New Delhi. The Convocation Ceremony was held to award diplomas to its 2014-2017 batch of Undergraduates in Business Administration, Mass Communication, IT and Hotel Management. The event at Kalkaji auditorium began with the customary lighting of the lamp accompanied by Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by Prof.(Maj.Gen.) M.P Singh-Director,Lajpat Nagar- addressing the students . In his speech he stressed that an individual was the master of his own destiny and could achieve anything he desired with zeal and persistence. He advised the students to remain positive and focused as these were two qualities that paved the way for success in all areas of life. After the distribution of Diplomas to Graduates of all courses , it was time for Chairman –Dr.Amit Gupta to speak to the students. In his convocation address he said that if a person strove for continuous self-improvement and adapted himself quickly to the changing times and situations, then he was sure to succeed. Supporting his statement he quoted examples of brands that had failed miserably owing to their outdated and invariable strategies. Wishing the students luck , he asked the students to remain confident and goal oriented in their lives. The ceremony concluded with everyone rising for the national anthem.



Hindi Divas 2017


The college paid befitting tribute to the national language by celebrating Hindi Divas on the September 15. The function was organized by the students of Mass Communication department of JIMS. All the students and staff were dressed in traditional attires and conversed only in Hindi for the day. The celebrations began with students showcasing their talent in on-stage and off-stage competitions like Poetry recitation, extempore, slogan writing and creative writing. Students also sang few songs and presented a small skit on social issues. Other departments also took part in various competitions organized for the day.


Teacher's Day 2017


Since the year 1947 , 5th of September is celebrated is celebrated as teachers day as per the English calendar year as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. 5th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education and as well known diplomat, scholar, president of India and above all a teacher. When some of his students approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday he said instead of celebrating my birthday separately it would be my proud privilege, if 5th of September is observed as teacher’s day. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru said about Dr Radhakrishnan he has served his country in many capacities .But above all, he is a great teacher from who all of us have learnt much and will continue to learn. Teacher's Day was celebrated at JIMS Lajpat Nagar on September 5. The director, JIMS Lajpat Nagar motivated the students and asked to take maximum advantage of the opportunity they have at JIMS by drawing from the rich experience and wide perspective of a highly talented faculty


Fresher's Day 2017



Continuing with the illustrious tradition of the Institute, senior students and newcomers of the institute mingled with each other at the Freshers' welcome party organized on 1st September 2017 at Paradise Banquet Hall, Vasant Kunj.The occasion was graced by none other than Prof.(Maj.Gen.) M.P. Singh (Director –JIMS). The program began with the student anchors of 2nd and 3rd year welcoming their juniors. Freshers' party is all about making the best start to the new academic session and a time to create eternal relationships with each other. The event is an indication of union among the students. The purpose of this event is that every "Fresher" of JIMS Lajpat Nagar, feels like an integral part of the JIMS family and is ready to accept challenges of life successfully. With pulsating ambience, flashing lights and foot tapping music, the party began with a blast. The excitement augmented to a joyful high when the freshers introduction for Mr.and Ms. Fresher began. As the mercury began to rise, the dance floor was left open for some unbridled energy. Joy and happiness could be seen in students of each and every course at the institute. Inquisitive about campus life and conscious of the latest fashion trends, the freshers’ dressed their best. The party scripts the beginning of hard work & fun the students would be paging through for the coming years at the institute. The contest of Mr. & Miss. Fresher was an exciting & segment of the evening. Ms. Simarjeet of BMC and Mr. Harsh of BBA were selected as Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher respectively.



Independence Day 2017



JIMS Lajpat Nagar, celebrated Independence Day with gust and fervor on 14 August, 2017. Students participated in various activities where they described how they would like to free from their habits and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Orientation Day 2017



To welcome the fresh batches and to orient them to the environment of the college, JIMS Lajpat Nagar organized the “Orientation Day” on the 1st August in its centrally located South Delhi Campus.The Guests of honor for the occasion was Mr. Kavindra Sachan, Senior Anchor at Rajyasabha TV channel, shared his professional experience’s, learning’s with the youth and believed in collaborative success, where the working professionals share their knowledge, skills and most crucial "wisdom" with the youth in a sustainable manner, thus enabling building the talent pipeline of the world. Also present on the occasion Prof.(Maj.Gen.) M.P Singh –Director ,JIMS –Lajpat Nagar, our honorable Chairman Dr. Amit Gupta. With dreams and aspirations soaring high, the students turned up in huge numbers to the call of their Institute .Formally dressed and immaculately turned out, the students exuded confidence and focus required to face the challenges of life. An event such as this would indeed have been incomplete without the words of wisdom being given to them on this all important day of their lives. In his welcome address to the students, he spoke to the students about the importance of being firm and resolute in one’s convictions .He reminded them that being organized in life was as important as it was to be academically sound. Discipline and Self control were stressed as the other important areas which the students were supposed to exercise. After Director Sir’s address it was Our Chairman Dr. Amit Gupta who gave some pragmatic and useful advice to the fresher's. He advised the students to remain unwavering in focus because that was what was required to achieve one’s goals in life. Mr.Sachan in his address emphasized the importance of discipline in life and said that one should be able to strike a balance between fun and studies in one’s career . After all the formal interaction , it was now time for the students to warm up to each over coffee and refreshments.



JIMS ,Lajpat Nagar hosted a Farewell Party for the outgoing batches of the college of April’2017 . Gracing the occasion were Prof (Maj.Gen.)M.P.Singh - Director(JIMS,Lajpat Nagar),faculties of all departments . Despite the rising mercury, the student turnover at “Paradise hall” –the venue for the “Farewell Party” this year -was high. Dressed in immaculate suits, flowing dresses and elegant sarees, the students walked in all mature and grown -up, ready to shoulder the responsibilities that lay ahead. The title giving ceremony indeed highlighted the fine camaraderie that existed between the juniors and the seniors. The program that began with the hosts extending a warm welcome to the management, faculty members and students continued with seniors receiving cards, flowers and gifts from their beloved juniors. To make it all the more memorable, the students made sure that they danced together with each of their favorite seniors to the high decibel music. The end of the program saw the seniors and the juniors munching on the delectable snacks .


PRISM 2017


The 13th edition of Prism, the Annual Film and Photography Festival of the Jagannath International Management School unveiled on March 24, 2017 at the auditorium of its Kalkaji campus.  The festival was organized in association with Institut Français and Ambassade De France En Inde. The well acclaimed filmmaker Mr Vijay Jodah and Ms Nikita Arora, CEO Webnell were the external judges for the event.

 The event started by the lamp lighting ceremony, followed by Dr Ravi K Dhar, Director, JIMS Vasant Kunj addressing the gathering. Dr Dhar cited various day today situations to illustrate that each one of us is a story teller since our childhood. Balance, he said, is one of the key ingredients of any story. Balance makes it a compelling story, he stated. A total of 60 films were screened in the festival. In motion picture segment the entries were categorized into Ads and Public Service Ads (PSAs), short films and long films.

The participants spanned Delhi University, IP and private colleges. Gargi, Indraprastha College for Women, Deshbandhu College, Masscomedia, Amity, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication, Trinity College, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS) and all the four campuses of JIMS.  Other than love and romance, subjects such as rash driving, homosexuality, leukemia, gender bias, sexual abuse, mobile addiction and eye donation captured the imagination of the participants. Particularly well received were the films depicting (a) the incidence of sexual abuse (ii) the real time story of a leukemia survivor and (iii) the journey of “Super,” a vintage car from Ford.

The festival concluded with Mr Vijay Jodha cautioning the budding filmmakers against copying ideas. Appreciating the originality of the ideas and their execution, Mr Jodha said some of the films showcased at the festival were at par with professional films.


Cynet 2017



CYNET –The Annual IT Fest was organized by JIMS, Vasant Kunj and Lajpat Nagar on 17th March’2017 at JIMS Vasant Kunj. The event aimed to enrich and enhance the technical excellence of the students.The event started with the encouraging speech by Dr. Ravi K Dhar, Director JIMS, Vasant Kunj followed by welcoming address by Mrs. Narula, HOD-IT JIMS Vasant Kunj. Around 50 students from various colleges like GTBIT, NDIM, USAP, NIIT and JIMS Rohini participated in technical events with full enthusiasm and exhibited team spirit. CYNET embraced a number of events which serve as the best means to provide the students as an opportunity to portray their potential.All the events were a learning experience and they provided students with the required boost to their enthusiasm and fun as well. Events like Treasure hunt,Code Breaker and Web Weaver were the main attraction of the day. The HOD-IT, all the faculties as well as the students strived their best for making the event a great success. On stage events like IT Quiz were also conducted amidst various events so as to improve the knowledge of the students.



Annual Alumni Sports Day 2017


JIMS Annual Alumni Sports Meet was organized on 11th March, 2017 at Siri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi. Alumni from all JIMS campuses participated enthusiastically in events such as Table Tennis, Badminton, Basket Ball, Volleyball and Football. In addition, various track and field events were also conducted. Trophies and Medals were presented to the winners by Directors of Kalkaji & Vasant Kunj Campuses.


Interior Design Exhibition "Design Santushti"

A Designer should be willing to experiment with various resources to simplify complexities and magnify the Diversities of Color, Texture and form. Keeping all these in mind the budding designers of Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences (Lajpat Nagar) organized an Annual Interior Design Exhibition “Design Santushti” at “Dilli Haat” ,Janakpuri, New Delhi on 25th & 26th February 2017.
The exhibition show cased various Designs of Decorative Mirrors, Glass Paintings and Painted Pots. On the other hand it displayed various innovative concepts and designs used in making furniture. The Budding Designers made a foldable bed with an attached study table an ideal solution for a Bachelors room, a highly thoughtful innovative bar which captured the crowd and amazed them. Impressive and colourful Chest of Drawer for Play school reception or Kids room. Touch of nature with use of wood for making Designer Center table added warmth to the display.


Annual Sports Day 2017

JIMS Annual Sports Meet was organized on 25th Feb , 2017 at Sri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi. Different batches from all JIMS campuses participated enthusiastically in events such as Table Tennis, Badminton, Cricket. In addition, various track and field events were also conducted. Trophies and Medals were presented to the winners by the Chairman JIMS, Dr. Amit Gupta. All the students of JIMS campuses cheered the students with great zeal, spirit and enthusiasm.


Chef Competition 2017

Jims Lajpat Nagar celebrated its Annual hospitality event ''Master Chef Competition ''on 8th Feb 2017. Students from various colleges were invited to this competition. They prepared mouthwatering recipes and presented to the judges.


Inter Campus Debate Competition 2017

"Demonitisation : A political game changer or a historic blunder ’. On the 1st of Feb’2017, participants from four campuses of JIMS engaged in rare battle of wits that left the judges and the audience virtually speechless. The event was the annual “Inter Campus Debate Competition” that saw 12 participants present their arguments in favor and against one of the most widely discussed topics of the year 2016 -”Demonitisation”. An eloquent mix of facts and feelings , the debate gave a clear glimpse of the passion & conviction that lay behind the well-chosen expressions. The most captivating part of the event was the defense-where all the participants demonstrated an equally fine presence of mind. The competition, this year, was held on two levels. On one level were the undergraduate groups; and on the other were the PGDM’s & B.Ed’s standing against each other. Competition being a competition, however, had to have positions –which made the battle ultimately come down to scores. So, after due consideration of all the parameters of the debate , the first position for speaking in favor of the motion went to Dhriti of Vasant Kunj campus and that for against the move went to Ritika of the same campus.The second prize was bagged by Areeba of Kalkaji (for)and Neerav Bhatia of Greater Noida(against). From the senior group it was Elizabeth of Kalkaji ,PGDM program who stood first and Debina(for) of Greater Noida campus -B.Ed program (against) - second. An amalgamation of wit , repartees and logic , the competition positively enthralled the listeners.


Rotract Club Distribution of warm clothes

Winter is no less than a calamity especially for those dwelling right under the gaping gaze of the open skies.These are the people for whom winter promises not pashminas and furs but only shivers and cold bites. Keeping this in mind , the members of the Rotaract club went around the college persuading the students and faculty members alike to donate used and unused warm clothes so that at least some part of the winter season could become warm for those deprived of this basic necessity. It was , therefore, on the 31st of Jan’2017 that the Rotaractors approached the inhabitants of “Rain Basera “ of Gadi village and distributed the collection of clothes they had made a few days earlier. As the students carried the bags to the distribution area , people -young and old - surrounded them asking for clothes that fitted them. Some of them even rummaged through the heap looking for what they needed. The smiles that this gesture brought on the faces of the dwellers of the “Rain Basera” was itself fulfilling and pleasing.

Rotract Club Distribution of blankets

JIMS has always been at the forefront of CSR activities and social serviice to the needy and downtrodden segment. On 18th Jan'2017 ,As Delhi recorded the coldest day of the season , a group of twelve Rotaractors accompanied Amit Gupta, Chairman, JIMS to distribute blankets to the patients and their families parked in and around AIIMS campus.
The Rotaract Club of JIMS Lajpat Nagar led by the club's president Devendra Gupta (BCA) and secretary Deeksha Chourasia (BMC) vetted the area to identify the needy families.  As soon as Amit Gupta arrived, the vehicle carrying the blankets was taken close to the place of disbursement. The patients and their families (some of who belonged to far flung villages of the adjacent states of UP and Haryana) queued up to receive the “gift of warmth” on a chilly winter night.

9th Annual JIMS Distinguished Leader Lecture 2017


The 9th Annual JIMS Distinguished leader lecture was held on the 17th Jan 2017 at Sathya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The lecture was delivered by Shri Alok Verma, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, on the topic "Role of Youth In Nation Building". Also present on the occasion were Dr. Amit Gupta, Chairman, Directors , faculty members and selected students of all campuses of JIMS.

The lecture that began after the ceremonial lighting of the lamp focused on the importance and inculcation of a strong set of values in the youth of the day. While urging the students to remain goal oriented in life ,Mr.Verma said that honesty and integrity were two virtues that went a long way in building the character of a nation. He elaborated on the factors that were important to be borne in mind by the youth of the nation to help develop the nation. The lecture ended with Dr.(Cdr.)Satish Seth, Director General , JIMS Kalkaji proposing the Vote of Thanks.


Expression Fiesta 2017


Expressions Fiesta 2017 commenced with Ganpati Vandana and lighting of the lamp ceremony, with Maj.Gen.M.P.Singh , motivating and encouraging mass communication students. The inaugural address was followed by screening of the first entry of mobile film making competition. It was followed b y interesting events such as Cartoon Making, Blog Writing, Storyboard, Singing, MonoActing and Photography. Dr.Amit Gupta , Chairman of JIMS Graced the event and distributed the prizes to the winners and one could see some of the most spirited display of camaraderie between the three campuses of JIMS when the awards were being distributed. Students were seen shaking hands with each other to bid each other goodbyes.  


Students' Outstation Picnic



JIMS organized an outstation picnic on 26th Dec' 2016. Five days picnic was organized for the students to Manali. Interested students joins the trip which is a respite from the routine and enhances a feeling of togetherness.


Faculty Picnic


JIMS organized the Faculty picnic on 24th Dec' 2016. A one day picnic is organized every year for the faculty .Every faculty joins the trip which is a respite from the routine teaching and enhances a feeling of togetherness.It helps the Senior level management to mentor the faculty in an innovative manner.


Pop Star Nite 2016

JIMS has always been at the forefront of initiating and organizing various events relevant in providing exposure to its students in all areas ,be it Cultural events,Industrial Visits,Technical fests or more importantly CSR activities.We at JIMS believe that we in our own ways have to give back to the society and try to create a better one.We at JIMS under the leadership of Dr.Amit Gupta believe in holistic approach in the personality development of the students. Continuing with the tradition, JIMS in association with Rotary club Delhi Nirvana organised Pop Star Nite at Thyagraj Stadium , the performance of the famous singer Badshah.The program began with the facilitation of Rotary club members by our Honourable Chairman Dr.Amit Gupta and then the actual party started with great performance of Badshah and his team.It was a wonderful nite where everybody enjoyed to the fullest!


Media Seminar 2016

Jims organised  11th National Media Seminar on the topic “Radio as people’s mass media in post liberalized India” on October 26, 2016, at IIMC Auditorium (MANCH). . The participants of the seminar were  Mr. Rajeev Shukla ,Deputy Director General , AIR, Dr R Sreedher, Expert Community Radio, Ms Shrinkhala Sahai, Content Manager and RJ, Ms. Akriti Jakmola, RJ Nasha and Mr Rahul Makin , RJ, Fever 104. The event was attended by media students from Jims Vasant Kunj and Jims Lajpat Nagar  fraternity.


IT Seminar 2016



JIMS organized on 15th OCtober 2016 at Indian International Centre, New Delhi ,a seminar on "Big Data Analytics Challenges & Opportunities." . The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Ravi.K.Dhar , Director , JIMS, VK and Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker Dr.Amit Nanavati.Dr. Amit Nanavati is a Senior Technical Leader for Cognitive Automation Solution at IBM, he threw light on Large Scale Social Network Analysis for Telecom Business Intelligence.Ms. Rakhi Saxena, eminent academician in Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi described the graph theory and algorithms used to analyse the large scale Social Network. Mr. Harmeet Singh, is a Project Lead at Walmart Inc. told the studnets about the advantages and challenges of Big Data. Mr.Rajesh Dhuddu,Senior Vice President at Quottro Global Services described the wonders and applications of the Big Data - the Science behind the New Age World. The Seminar concluded with the Valedictory Address by Mrs. Meenakshi Narula -Head Dept Of Information Technology ,JIMS Vasant Kunj.
